Sounds crazy. But read this, and understand that I am not supporting any new product nor am I a rep for any company, Im your average joe working in the real estate bussiness and bartending on the weekends!!

Ok, first off, ive been taking cytogainer for the last few years on and off, never really noticed anything too crazy. I have also used syntha-6 by bsn and dymatize elite.

Ive been broke as a joke lately trying to remodel my house and havent had any money for supplements and when my cytogainer ran out, I just figured ahh screw it ill just up my protein intake through the foods I am already eating ect.
Let me tell you, I have never seen my weights, my size, and the numbers on my scale increase at such a rapid pace ever in my history of lifting. I went from 169-174 in less than two weeks which is amazing for a hard gainer like myself. So I get to researching and find out that whey protein is a huge reason that bodybuilder veterans can develop this think know as "intestinal toxemia"… And apparently whey digests straight into your intestinal tracts creating an extremely acidic environment in your body, preventing protein synthesis?

I know all this sounds far fetched, but the only reason I came across this in the first place is because of the gains noticed after I stopped using whey, and I will not be going back. ALL of my protein for now on is coming from natural sources, no powders.

By no means do I know if any of this is true, im hoping someone will chime in with more knowledge than I..

Interesting post. Wish I knew anything about this so I could contribute, but I don't. Hopefully someone does.

I'd actually noticed the same thing for a brief period a few years back, but then reckoned that I must have been imagining it.

Looking forward to hearing some replies to this one.

Whole food is ALWAYS better than Whey…Everyone should know that. Whey is just tasty and convenient.

So you stopped using protein supplements and increased your calorie intake with whole foods. The f*ck is so special about that?

No no no, guess i forgot something in my post. I figured I would up my protein intake, but never did. The week after I went off of whey I had a full schedule and was eating normally, if anything i was eating less.

yeah he was talking about overall calories, you are probably consuming more fat..I personally use powders because they are cheaper per grams of protein than meat, they are convenient, and I have tons of them.

Yarly. Protein powders are only there if you can't meet your daily protein requirement. You shouldn't depend on it.

He said it was far fetched for a reason, nothing can be proven in his post that it wasn't the other crap he had in his protein, or anything else he's been doing

Well, this is interesting, but my guess is that you started eating more meat to fulfill your protein requirements? If you look at the caloric value for a steak its astronomical, something like 1000-1500 calories per steak. A big chicken breast also has a good deal of calories, albeit much less saturated fat than steak. What most likely happened is you ended up taking in more calories than you suspected. Nonetheless, it did work better for you, right?

I really doubt this, you usually see whey is said to take around 3 hours to digest. You have to break the peptide bonds..and I don't think that would be immediate.

Once again , whole food is usually better than supplements.

You are correct in saying that protein is acidic. That is why you should be balancing out your diet with tons of veggies. Not only do they counteract the acidity of protein. They also provide vitamins, minerals & enzymes needed for proper digestion. Thus, help prevent intestinal toxemia & other problems like Low Grade Metabolic Acidosis.

Whey IS useful, but it is not a magic bullet by any means. Convenient & fast acting.
